The popularity of NITI Aayog’s Covid-19 tracking app Aarogya Setu can be gauged from the fact that so far more than 90 million users have downloaded this app. The app is currently available on Android and iOS platforms.

Recently, this app has also been made available for feature phones. At the same time, there is big news for users using Jio phone that the work on the Aarogya Setu app for KaiOS has started. Soon this app can also be used on Jio phone based on KaiOS.

The government is preparing to bring the Aarogya Setu app on Jio phone based on KaiOS and this confirmation was shared by MyGov India CEO Abhishek Singh in an interview given by Hindustan Times.

In this interview, Abhishek Singh has told that the Government of India is working on the Aarogya Setu app with a different version for Jio phone users. Make it clear that the Jio phone does not work on Android or iOS platforms, nor is it completely a feature phone. This phone is based on the KaiOS platform and keeping this in mind, a separate version of the Aarogya Setu app is being developed for this.

During the interview, Abhishek Singh said that there are about 40 to 500 million smartphone users in India. But there is still no shortage of feature phone users in the country. Apart from this, there are 11 crore Jio phone users in the country. In such a situation, the government plans to connect all phone users with the Aarogya Setu app. However, Abhishek Singh did not disclose how long this app will be launched for Jio phone.
