Administration alert in Mumbai due to ‘natural’ storm, Corona patients removed from hospital

Maharashtra, which is suffering the worst of the Corona epidemic in the country, is now under threat of cyclonic storm. In view of this, the Kovid Hospital on the MMRDA Ground at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai has been evacuated. On Tuesday, 150 patients admitted here were taken to Worli Corona Care Center. Kovid Open Hospital was built by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority by putting up tents in the open ground. At the same time, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 33 teams as a precautionary measure in Maharashtra and Gujarat to deal with the storm.

NDRF Director General SN Pradhan said on Tuesday, Gujarat and Maharashtra have 11 and 10 teams. They are posted in the coastal districts of Arabian Sea. Pradhan said, six teams from Punjab have been airlifted to Gujarat. Along with this, 17 teams have been deployed in Gujarat and 16 in Maharashtra. Some teams are in reserve. Each team consists of 45 personnel, who are equipped with state-of-the-art communication technology and other equipment. “Teams have started evacuating people from the danger zone,” Pradhan said. In Maharashtra, two NDRF teams have been deployed at Palghar, three in Mumbai, one in Thane, two in Raigad and one in Ratnagiri. CM of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray said, necessary measures are being taken to ensure that there is no obstruction in power and communication system. Precautions are being taken to protect the chemical and nuclear plants at Palghar and Raigad.
20,000 people removed from Gujarat
The administration has evacuated more than 20,000 people from 47 villages in Gujarat’s coastal districts of Valsad and Navsari. Meteorological Department Regional Director Jayant Sarkar said, “The storm may not hit Gujarat, yet due to the strong wind and heavy rains may affect the coastal areas.”
Thunderstorm rain warning in Delhi NCR
The Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms in Delhi-NCR and some areas of UP on Tuesday evening. Apart from Delhi, there may be heavy thunderstorms and rains in Ghaziabad, Meerut, Modinagar, Shamli, Baghpat in UP and Karnal, Sonepat Panipat in Haryana.
