Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) sent their fans into a frenzy on Wednesday as they removed profile photos and cover photos from their social media handles, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
RCB have also deleted their photos from Instagram. Their official page on the popular photo-sharing platform shows 0 posts as of Wednesday afternoon.
India and RCB leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took to social media and expressed surprise over the latest development, which comes weeks ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
“Arey @rcbtweets, what googly is this? Where did your profile pic and Instagram posts go?” Chahal wrote.

Popular television broadcaster Harsha Bhogle wondered what was going on at RCB after the IPL franchise pulled off most of their social media posts.
“Hey guys, any idea what’s on with @rcbtweets? All posts deleted on Instagram, no profile pictures on Twitter and Facebook…..,” Bhogle wrote on Twitter.
RCB’s actions come a day after the IPL franchise signed Muthoot Fincorp as their title sponsor for IPL 2020. RCB on Tuesday announced a three-year partnership with Muthoot Fincorp Ltd, a part of the Muthoot Pappachan Group, popularly known as Muthoot Blue, a diversified conglomerate in the financial services industry.
After finishing as runners-up in IPL 2016, RCB’s performances in the following seasons have been far from impressive. The Virat Kohli-led franchise finished last in 2017, 6th in 2018 and once again last in 2019.
With the likes of Mike Hesson (Director of Cricket) and Simon Katich (head coach) on board, RCB are hoping for change of fortunes in IPL 2020.
